Statement of Faith
In alignment with the Lausanne Covenant, Redeemers University North America (RUNA) seeks to be a community that glorifies God through academic excellence, spiritual formation, and faithful witness to the world.
At RUNA, we believe in:
- The Authority of Scripture: We believe the Bible is God’s inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word. The Bible is the supreme guide for our faith and conduct. We are dedicated to the diligent study and teaching of Scripture, aiming to equip our students to live out its truths in every aspect of their lives.
- The Trinity: We believe in one God, eternally existent in three distinct Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three Persons are co-equal, co-eternal, and consubstantial, sharing the same divine essence, yet maintaining distinct personal attributes and roles within the Godhead.
- The Uniqueness and Universality of Christ: We affirm that Jesus Christ is the only Savior and that His life, death, and resurrection provide the sole means of salvation for all humanity. We uphold the necessity of proclaiming this gospel to all nations, calling everyone to faith and obedience in Christ.
- The Nature of Evangelism: We believe evangelism is the proclamation of the historical, biblical Christ as Savior and Lord to persuade people to come to Him personally and be reconciled to God. We are committed to fostering a spirit of evangelism within our University community, encouraging students and staff to share their faith with clarity and compassion.
- Christian Social Responsibility: We acknowledge that God is the Creator and Judge of all people. Therefore, we are called to exhibit His justice and compassion by caring for the poor and oppressed and by being stewards of His creation. We strive to integrate social responsibility into our curriculum, service opportunities, and campus life.
- The Church and its Mission: We affirm that the Church is at the center of God’s cosmic purpose and is His appointed means of spreading the gospel. We support and collaborate with local churches, encouraging our students to engage actively in church life and mission.
- The Importance of Unity: We believe in the unity of all believers, recognizing that our common faith in Christ transcends denominational and cultural differences. We promote a spirit of unity and cooperation within our university, fostering an environment of mutual respect and love.
- Continuous Growth in Discipleship: We are committed to becoming more like Christ each day. This endeavor involves spiritual growth through prayer, study, and service. Our educational programs and community life are designed to nurture discipleship and personal transformation.
- The Return of Christ: We believe in the personal and visible return of Jesus Christ in power and glory. This hope motivates us to live holy and godly lives, eagerly anticipating the fulfillment of God’s Kingdom.
Institutional Objectives
- Foster Spiritual Growth and Moral Integrity: Cultivate a deep, authentic Christian faith in students, encouraging them to embody Christ's teachings and uphold strong moral and ethical values in their personal and professional lives.
- Promote Academic Excellence and Holistic Education: Provide rigorous, intellectually challenging academic programs that integrate Christian principles. These programs will ensure that students are well-prepared to lead while nurturing their spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and physical development.
- Develop Effective and Ethical Leaders: Equip students with leadership skills rooted in Christian ethics, enabling them to influence and transform communities, professions, and global missions with integrity and purpose.
- Embrace Diversity and Foster a Collaborative Community: Create an inclusive learning environment that celebrates global diversity and builds a supportive, collaborative community among faculty, staff, and students, fostering mutual respect and spiritual growth.
- Engage in Research, Innovation, and Community Service: Encourage research and innovative thinking from a Christian worldview while promoting active participation in service and outreach programs that advance God's kingdom and contribute to societal well-being.
- Provide Accessible Online Learning Tools: This technology will give students access to teaching resources and allow them to communicate with professors efficiently. Develop a physical library and massive online repository of reading materials, which will be linked with existing online theological libraries and build a media vault with unique picture, video, and audio materials. The goal is to support every student's need for any material that will aid in the study process.
The University is committed to cultivating an atmosphere where students excel spiritually and academically. Accordingly, the University has elected to undergo institutional accreditation with the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools. We are actively working to meet the necessary standards through a comprehensive assessment that will verify compliance.
